The Gititu washing station resides in the Kiambu region of the Central Province of Kenya. Here, small lot holders of 1-2 hectares each cultivate varietals such as Batian, SL28, SL34 and Ruiru 11. Ripe cherries are collected and brought to the washing station for processing. After sorting for under ripe fruits, the mass is fermented for 16-18 hours in cement tanks and dried on raised African beds for 13-14 days. If you are a fan of Kenyan coffees, this lot is a reminder of their potency and unique profiles. We love the richness of flavor and aroma to savor, with decadent notes of black currant, molasses and pomegranate. A classic profile with a mineral like finish leaving you asking for more.
